What is a natural latex mattress and how is it produced?

Natural latex is a plant-based raw material obtained from the rubber tree called Hevea brasiliensis. The liquid extracted from the tree's sap is turned into foam form through a vulcanization process. While synthetic visco foam uses petrochemical raw materials, natural latex does not use any derivatives at any stage of this process.

The products in our collection are made using two different latex production methods: Dunlop and Talalay. The Dunlop method creates a denser and more supportive structure. The Talalay method, since it includes an additional pressure and freezing step, provides a more homogeneous and softer feel. The Lofty Talalay Supreme model uses this second method.

Natural latex mattress models in the collection

Four different models meet the needs of different sleeping positions and body weights. Each has a height of 20 cm or 15 cm and contains GOLS-certified latex.

The benefits provided by a natural latex mattress

The most prominent advantage of natural latex mattresses is pressure distribution. Since body weight is distributed equally across the surface, no localized pressure points are formed in the waist, hip, and shoulder regions. This feature is particularly important for side sleepers and those with chronic back pain.

The open-cell structure allows the mattress to ventilate passively. Moisture and heat accumulated throughout the night are expelled. Unlike mattresses covered with polyester or memory foam, a natural latex mattress does not create a sweat-soaked feeling. Our products document this feature with eco-INSTITUT emission tests.

Dust mites cannot settle inside the mattress because the latex structure does not contain porous voids where these organisms can cling. For people with asthma and dust allergies, this is a clinically measurable difference.

Who is it suitable for?

Natural latex mattresses appeal to a wide user profile. Aniline-free and GOLS-certified latex is used in baby and children's mattresses; intensive chemical emission tests make these models safe for growing children.

Adult models provide support across a wide range, from heavy-weighted individuals to light-framed users. The 7-zone Lofty Multi-Zone addresses mixed sleeping positions directly by applying different firmness levels to different body parts. The dual-sided Lofty Dual-Comfort is produced for couples who have different firmness preferences on the same mattress.

For those who avoid animal ingredients due to veganism or environmental preferences, all our latex foam cores have V-Label vegan certification. No animal-derived materials are used at any stage of production.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between latex and synthetic?

Natural latex is obtained from the sap of the rubber tree; synthetic foam is produced from petrochemical raw materials. Thanks to its open-cell structure, natural latex provides continuous air circulation and prevents heat accumulation. Our products document that they contain 95% organic latex with GOLS certification.

Are natural latex mattresses safe for babies and children?

Natural latex is one of the safest sleep surfaces for babies thanks to its hypoallergenic structure that does not harbor dust mites, bacteria, and mold. Furthermore, our eco-INSTITUT and OEKO-TEX certifications prove that our products contain no chemical emissions that would harm your baby's respiratory tract or skin. This provides both a clean and supportive environment for children in their developmental stages.

Do latex pillows help with neck and spine pain?

Natural latex pillows instantly conform to the shape of the head and neck area due to their excellent flexibility, balancing pressure points. This orthopedic support helps alleviate neck and back pain by maintaining spinal alignment during sleep. Our LGA-certified durable structure guarantees that this ergonomic support lasts for years without sagging.

Do your products contain animal ingredients?

The latex foam core we use in our mattresses and pillows is entirely of plant origin and is produced without harming nature. It is officially approved by the international V-Label vegan certification that no animal materials are used at any stage of our production process.

Can people with latex allergies use natural latex mattresses?

Since natural latex mattresses have a natural resistance to fungi, mold, and house dust, they provide a comfortable sleep for people with asthma and dust allergies. However, you should be careful if you have a rare, specific "latex allergy" to the protein within the material itself. Although the washing processes during the production stage largely purify the proteins, it is recommended that those with severe latex allergies consult their doctor.

Are baby and children's mattresses safe?

The Lofty Kids model is aniline-free and GOLS-certified. eco-INSTITUT and OEKO-TEX certificates confirm that there are no chemical emissions that would harm the respiratory tract or skin. These tests are conducted in independent laboratories.

Are latex pillows good for neck and spine pain?

Natural latex pillows instantly conform to the head and neck shape, balancing pressure points. This support maintains spinal alignment during sleep. Our LGA-certified structure documents that this ergonomic support lasts over the years without sagging.

Do the products contain animal ingredients?

All latex foam cores are entirely of plant origin. No animal materials are used at any stage of production. This is officially approved by the international V-Label vegan certification.

Can people with latex allergies use these mattresses?

The structure, which offers natural resistance against dust, mold, and house dust, is suitable for people with asthma and dust allergies. If you have a rare, specific allergy to the latex protein itself, you should consult your doctor. The washing processes during the production stage significantly reduce the protein level; however, this may not be sufficient for individuals with severe latex allergies.

What certifications does it have?

Our collection holds GOLS, eco-INSTITUT, OEKO-TEX, and V-Label vegan certifications. You can view all documents on the Certificates page. The certificates have been issued by independent organizations.

What is the difference between a 7-zone mattress and a standard mattress?

The Lofty Multi-Zone model divides the body into 7 distinct zones and applies different firmness to each zone. The shoulder area is set to be softer, while the waist and hip areas are set to be firmer. Standard single-zone mattresses distribute the same firmness equally across the entire surface.
